Dr. John W. Rothwell III, APRN

Dr. John W. Rothwell III began his healthcare career in 1989 as a flight medic in the Army, serving with distinction during a combat tour in the Middle East. Following his military service, which included roles in the Florida and New Hampshire National Guards, he transitioned to nursing, earning his DNP from the University of Central Florida in 2018.


Dr. John brings extensive experience in intensive care, cardiology, oncology, endocrinology, and emergency medicine to his practice. He is the founder and provider at Island Direct Primary Care, an integrative practice combining traditional and functional medicine, and serves as adjunct faculty at the University of Central Florida College of Nursing.


Passionate about service, Dr. John is a combat veteran dedicated to community care. He is a board member and volunteer with Matthew’s Hope Ministries, providing medical services to the underserved, and participates in international medical missions in Guatemala. A philanthropist and mentor, he supports numerous charitable organizations, coaches youth rugby, and plays on a military rugby team that honors fallen service members.
